Don't even think about taking the Duero trail from Valbuena to Quintanilla; it's covered in plants that block your way. You don't know if you're in the Brazilian jungle or in Valladolid. All the plants prick, so much so that you'll almost end up with holes in your back. In short, anyone who goes that way will find it easier to jump into the river and swim.

Make sure you carry sufficient water, when the temperatures get in to mid to high 30's the stretch between refills can be long.
