A beautiful natural area to walk through. It can get slippery here quickly in wet weather, so be careful.

Note the crucifix on the eastern exterior wall of the church. Below this calvary is a painting on copper plate; it depicts "purgatory": an angel rescues the dead from the fire.

In recent years, the Oude Kale river in Landegem has been re-meandered in two phases: first, the section south of the railway line; then the section north of the railway line (here you'll find the highlight "Muizendalebos"). The Oude Kale river now meanders as it did before. This has impacted both water quality and biodiversity. Even the beaver is now active here.

In the chapel, besides a statue of Our Lady (a Pietà), there are also statues of other saints. I thought I recognized Saint Rita, Saint Anthony, and Saint John, among others.

Unlike the right bank, there's no pedestrian lane along the verge here. The fact that you can reach "Eiland" (the street that turns into a pedestrian path) and then the small island in the Schipdonk Canal from here is a plus that the right bank doesn't have :-)

Contrary to what the name "museum" suggests, this isn't a building or a domain where you can wander around and admire all sorts of bicycles. No, they make "crazy" bikes (similar to the kind you can experiment with at De Lustige Velodroom in Blankenberge) that you can rent. There's also a drinks vending machine (at d'Oude Smisse).

Contrary to the original name of this highlight, this picnic area is of course not located on a river, but on the Schipdonk Canal, officially the Leie Diversion Canal (which runs from Deinze to Zeebrugge). However, that doesn't make it any less beautiful: it leans against an orchard and a small wood, with a view of the water and no cars nearby...
