I find everything here beautiful and we call the polders our front garden since they start in front of our house! We have a good view 24/7! I can recommend all the cycling routes here!

The new town hall was built in 1938 to a design by Ghent architect Geo Bontinck. The old town hall (Franz Wittoucklaan 33), dating from 1868 and designed by architect Edmond de Perry-Montigny, was then repurposed as a maternity hospital and clinic. The new town hall was built in a surprising modern style. It was intended to symbolize modern Zelzate as an industrial town along the Ghent-Terneuzen canal. Today, Zelzate's town hall is a beautiful example of modernist architecture from the interwar period. The building is clearly influenced by the Dutch architectural movements of that period. At this location at the Memorial you can view three air raid shelters for one person. These small bunkers were used as guard posts.
