1月 26, 2025, Marina Corricella Harbor
Characteristic, suggestive and romantic, Marina Corricella is the oldest seaside village in Procida. Arranged like an amphitheatre on the sea and surrounded by nets laid out on the dock, this small fishing village is a quiet and seductive refuge for those who prefer relaxing holidays. The smell of the sea, the characteristic streets, the unique architecture and the total absence of cars make Corricella a world apart.

1月 26, 2025, Sorgeto Hot Springs
Sorgeto Bay is one of the hidden treasures of Ischia. It is located on the south coast of the island and offers a unique natural thermal experience thanks to its natural hot springs that flow directly into the sea, creating a mixture of hot and cold water. TIP: The bay can be reached by land via the hamlet of Panza in the municipality of Forio, climbing 250 panoramic steps, or by sea with a taxi boat from the village of Sant’Angelo which also connects with Maronti beach.

there are architectural testimonies (aqueduct, ancient underground cellars, ancient farmhouses). It is for a good part an ancient communication route. It is generally easy to walk, provided you have suitable footwear. It requires training due to significant slopes

From the Café Floreana in Serrara, a steep climb on good paths. The high path on the slope requires surefootedness and good fitness. The views are stunning. But we were so exhausted at the church of San Maria del Monte that we called a taxi when we finally reached a narrow, drivable asphalt road.

The Roman aqueduct i Pilastri divides the municipalities of Ischia and Barano and was built between the 17th and 18th centuries, changing the fate of the island.

Whoever makes this a “simple” Hike explained - respect. I've done the tour twice now with good equipment... You have to know that large parts of the tour lead through a stream and there are very steep stretches. Definitely not recommended after rain, in dry weather you still need to know how to pedal. It's also not a tour for strollers or flip-flops!

Here the remaining 550 meters of the Roman aqueduct built between the 17th and 18th centuries are still clearly visible.

Different plant formations enrich the Mediterranean maquis of Ischia which represents a unicum for the favorable microclimatic conditions. Among the most representative tree species we find the olive tree and the holm oak; the arbutus, myrtle, oleander, laurel, filirea and mastic are found, however, among the shrubs. Broom, cistus and heather herald the arrival of spring with their scent, while the undergrowth is enriched with new colors with wild orchids, violets, cyclamen and anemones. Rosemary, nepeta and oregano make the island exclusive from an ecological point of view. Then the helierisis and the prickly pears are splendid which, together with the aloe plants, give an exotic atmosphere to the island. On the rocky coasts there is the critmo and the rare statice of Ischia, unique in the whole world. In the more sheltered cliffs we find the Spartium Junceum, the tree euphorbia, in the grassy meadows anemones and cyclamen. Beautiful ferns grow in humid substrates and with northern exposure, as does the tiny Selaginella denticulata.

If you are planning a day trip from the mainland by ferry, it is advisable to book a return trip at busy times. In the worst case, they won't be able to leave the island in the evening.

Aqueduct inspired by the Roman ones but built at the end of the 500s and subsequently modified. This infrastructure was necessary to supply drinking water to the inhabitants of the island from the Buceto spring.

To provide for the needs of the population it was decided to connect this center, through an aqueduct, with the Buceto spring, located in the homonymous quarry, close to Fiaiano at an altitude of about 420 meters above sea level. The work (about 7200 meters long) was begun between 1571 and 1575 by the governor of Ischia Orazio Tuttavilla (who stopped with the construction of the arches and pillars) and was finished a century later, in 1672, by Monsignor Girolamo Rocca, bishop of Ischia. Today about 550 meters of the aqueduct remain, it connects the Spalatriello, along the plain of the Rio Corbore.

At first sight it seems to be an aqueduct dating back to Roman times, in reality it was built by the Knight Orazio Tuttavilla in 1580 to satisfy the water needs of the inhabitants of the island.
