At first sight it seems to be an aqueduct dating back to Roman times, in reality it was built by the Knight Orazio Tuttavilla in 1580 to satisfy the water needs of the inhabitants of the island.

To provide for the needs of the population it was decided to connect this center, through an aqueduct, with the Buceto spring, located in the homonymous quarry, close to Fiaiano at an altitude of about 420 meters above sea level.
The work (about 7200 meters long) was begun between 1571 and 1575 by the governor of Ischia Orazio Tuttavilla (who stopped with the construction of the arches and pillars) and was finished a century later, in 1672, by Monsignor Girolamo Rocca, bishop of Ischia.
Today about 550 meters of the aqueduct remain, it connects the Spalatriello, along the plain of the Rio Corbore.
