The Spire of San Domenico is a Baroque sculptural work located in Piazza Santo Domingo Maggiore in Naples, opposite the church of the same name. Erected in 1656 as a votive offering to the saint for protection from the plague, the spire was commissioned by Cosimo Fanzago, later replaced by Francesco Antonio Picchiatti, and finally completed by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro in 1737. Via dei Tribunali, known as the Decumano Maggiore, is an 800-meter-long historic thoroughfare in the heart of Naples' historic center (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It connects Port'Alba to Castel Capuano, passing through iconic sites such as Piazza San Gaetano (near the Naples Underground), San Gregorio Armeno, and home to ancient churches, famous pizzerias, and the ancient Greek Agora.
