The Valle dell'Inferno is one of the most beautiful paths in the Vesuvius National Park. It is the route that winds between Mount Somma, an ancient volcano, and Vesuvius, at around 1000 m altitude

For me it was the first time I was able to look into a crater. Very impressive!

If you're in the area, you'll naturally want to go up. But be careful - it's better to book your tickets online beforehand. This is hardly possible on site. Once you make it to the top, it's a great experience. The parking lot for off-road vehicles is located at this map point - from here you have to walk.

We are on the slopes of Vesuvius and we can see its peak in the distance.

from here you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Gulf of Sorrento.

Vesuvius is a still active volcano, now in a state of quiescence, which frames the Gulf of Naples. Its crater is large in size and it is certainly exciting to get close to it.
