The Cascata dei Papalini suddenly appears in a small clearing in the heart of the forest, along the path: over time the falling water has formed a columnar deposit of gray limestone that descends like a drape and that partly acts as a springboard for the jet. But the peculiarity and spectacular nature of this waterfall is the possibility of seeing it even from behind the scenes: in fact, by climbing to the left on a short but steep path, you reach a natural roof of the rock from which you can observe the forest below through the curtain of water, without getting wet! The passage is not protected and is wet, so you need to pay particular attention. Like all torrential waterfalls, it is not always full and active: you need to look for the right period, perhaps after heavy rains, to visit it in all its thunderous splendor.

Anyone who wants to lose themselves in a magnificent natural environment in a recreational and at the same time operational way, can venture into the so-called Percorso Vita, an equipped gymnastic path that winds for eight kilometers in the Montemezzo area, with an indicative travel time of a couple of hours. It is recommended for those who want to keep fit, those who want to carve out a bit of time away from traffic, those who love nature and also those who enjoy photography. On the climb of Monte San Pietro, just beyond the Sacello Ossario, you cross the Strada di Mezzo on the right, where the path in the green begins, corresponding to the indicative table with the map of the route. The relaxing excursion turns out to be a free body workout, allowing the use of special wooden equipment (balance boards, bars, inclined planes, etc.) in the various areas located along the path with instructive tables that show the exercises to be performed. The itinerary leads to the Fontanalunga district (familiarly “al Buzo”) and, passing the church of Montemezzo from which you can enjoy a wide panorama, you return to nature by taking the Stradella dei Mori, then passing over the splendid “deła Vècia” district to finally return to Via San Pietro. The walk is best appreciated with the scents and colors of spring and autumn and above all, for understandable reasons, if done in good company. Source: https://subvicum.it/tappe/percorso-vita/

Magnificent view on one side of Sovizzo and on the other of Montecchio Maggiore. Sometimes it hosts events (theatre, open-air cinema, medieval events).

A medieval fortress, destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries, built on the hills of Montecchio Maggiore for its strategic position along the Via Postumia, controlling the passage between Verona and Vicenza. A previous fortification likely existed in Roman times. It is known as "Romeo's Castle" by tradition and folklore: Luigi da Porto, a military leader and man of letters, retired from military life and wrote the first novel about Romeo and Juliet in 1531 in his residence in Montorso, overlooking the two castles. In the 19th century, at the height of Romanticism, legend arose that the two castles, so close yet so far away, inspired him to imagine them as belonging to the rival families of the Montecchi and the Cappelletti. Shakespeare later drew inspiration from his work to make the tragic love story famous. Today, the castle occasionally hosts cultural events (concerts, theater, open-air cinema); it is open on weekends (see link); Free access to both the walls and the tower, from the top of which you can enjoy a magnificent 360° panorama. https://www.prolocoaltemontecchio.it/cosa-vedere/castelli-di-giulietta-e-romeo/ https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castelli_di_Romeo_e_Giulietta

Simple and elegant church overlooking Monte Pian, offering a beautiful view of the Pre-Alps to the north and the rolling hills adjacent to the south. The origin, between myth and reality: during the plague of 1475, a man escaped from Bassano in search of a safe place to escape the pandemic. During the journey, to ensure that there was no danger of contagion, he used a curious empirical trick: every evening he stuck a pole into the ground with a loaf of bread on top; if it looked moldy in the morning, it smelled like plague; otherwise he was sure he was in a healthy area. Once in this place, the loaf did not mold and the refugee stopped, purchasing a large part of the land above Monte Pian. Almost two centuries later one of his descendants decided to build the small church on that spot, erected as a grateful tribute to God for his ancestor's escape from danger. It is supposed to have been built around 1660 in its basic original appearance, with an altar and a bell on the facade; it was then restored in 1871; completely redone in 1953 because it was falling apart; the current bell tower was built in 1987.
