Tavagnacco, located about 8 km north of Udine, is a lively community with Roman roots and today is primarily known as a quiet, rural residential area. The area is famous for its asparagus and the annual "Festa degli asparagi" (Asparagus Festival), while the Parco del Cormor and the morenic hills invite you to walks and excursions. Thanks to its proximity to Udine and good transport links, Tavagnacco combines rural tradition with a modern quality of life.

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Colugna is a medieval church (1368), consecrated in the 16th century and expanded in the 18th and 19th centuries. Its exterior features include its original stone bell tower and picturesque loggia, while its interior boasts a simple, bright interior design with cross vaults, marble elements, and a small side chapel. Since 1946, it has formed an independent parish under the direction of Don Franco Fracasso.

History: • As early as the 12th century, there were several small devotional chapels in Feletto Umberto – a sign of scattered village communities. • A small church with a cemetery was first documented in 1593; a description of the church dates back to the 1601 visitation by Bishop Agostino Bruno. • In 1721, the Patriarch of Aquileia, Giovanni Dolfin, granted permission to demolish the old church and build something larger. The new building was completed in 1751 and consecrated by Patriarch Daniele Dolfin on August 22 of the same year. • Between 1852 and 1857, the associated parish (canonica) was built by master builder Giuseppe Feruglio. • In 1935, the original bell tower had to be demolished for traffic reasons; a planned replacement was never built due to World War II. The former bells (cast in 1929) have since stood on a wooden frame in front of the church. • After the 1976 earthquake, the church was damaged and restored between 1984 and 1986 by the engineer Giannantonio Gross. Architecture & Interior: • The façade is classically tripartite, with four tall pilasters (lesenae) supporting a frieze and a pointed triangular pediment. In the central area is a portal with a curved tympanum, above which is a window with a cross. • The interior is a simple hall church: a single-chambered lunette ceiling, small altar niches on the sides, decorated with combined lesenes and imposts. The choir area is characterized by a raised presbytery with a semicircular apse. • Notable artwork: A 19th-century painting by Giuseppe Ghedina depicts "San Giuseppe and Sant'Ermacora at the Consecration by Peter." Use & Special Features: • The church is an active parish church in the Diocese of Udine, located at Piazza Libertà 5, Feletto Umberto, and is used for religious celebrations and services. • Interestingly, both Feletto Umberto and neighboring Tavagnacco have churches dedicated to the same saint (Sant'Antonio Abate)—presumably an indication that both towns were historically dominated by livestock-farming communities; Sant'Antonio Abate is the patron saint of livestock.
