Cascata de la Froda Nasca,(Castelveccana) Castelveccana: Froda Waterfall The Froda waterfall is one of the hidden beauties of the province of Varese. Although it offers a truly spectacular show, in reality it is not as well known and reported as it deserves. But this makes it even more special for those who decide to discover it. After taking the path on the edge of the SP7, you will immediately immerse yourself in a very fascinating natural setting. The route is suitable for everyone and the children will certainly enjoy feeling like little explorers. It is advisable to wear mountain boots: along the path you will have to pass a short ford. In winter, special attention must be paid to ice. Once you arrive under the waterfall, you will be amazed: with its height of about 100 meters, it is a real wonder not to be missed, especially after heavy rains. But even with a slender jet it will amaze you ... An iron rope allows you to approach the waterfall without slipping. Church of San Rocco - Porto Valtravaglia The building was built in 1523 in the center of Porto Valtravaglia, perhaps as a sign of gratitude for the plague survived. It was in fact a simple open chapel, i.e. without a facade, equipped with only one altar on which a Madonna of Loreto was painted, surrounded by saints popularly invoked against plague. 1630 - 1633 complete reconstruction.

Church of S. Maria Assunta in Porto Valtravaglia The original church was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It was later enlarged by extending the aisle by two spans. In 1544, a chapel was added at the behest of the notary Giroldino Porto. In the second half of the 16th century, it was decided to enlarge the church after the number of believers had increased significantly. By 1596, the bell tower was built. In 1925, the then parish priest Don Giovanni Pozzi decided to convert the church into a neo-Romanesque style. However, the only measures actually carried out were the raising of the bell tower and the construction of an entrance to the wall of the side aisle. Text: Wikipedia

Church of Saint John Baptist, Germignaga Church of Saints Giovanni Battista and Rocco, Germignaga From a document of the 14th century, it is assumed that Germignaga was kept in Valtravaglia. After the plague of 1523, a small square chapel dedicated to Saint Rocco, invoked against the plague, was built in the center of the country at the behest of a Giovanni Pietro Calderoni. This building was later confirmed with the double title of Saint Rocco and Saint Sebastian. In 1578 the enlargement of the small church began, promoted by Archbishop Charles Borromeo. From the report of the pastoral visit of Archbishop Frederick Borromeo in 1596, it is clear that the works had not been completed since a major construction. In 1644 the foundations of the bell tower were laid and in 1685 it was decided to enlarge the church, but this project was not completed because the works stopped after a major construction. At the beginning of the 18th century he decided to make a complete reorientation and the project was entrusted to Carlo Federico Pietrasanta. The current church was built starting from 1707; was finally completed in 1740. During his pastoral visit in 1827, the Milanese Archbishop Carlo Gaetano von Gaisruck encouraged the population to enlarge the choir, which was practical a few years later, i.e. in 1832. In 1835 the parish was transferred from the old church of St. John the Baptist to the hill. Between 1836, the year in which he joined the rectory of Luino, and 1844 the building was modified according to the design of Natale Pugnetti. In 1895, as noted by Archbishop Ferrari, the faithful were 2500. Finally, the parish was restored between 1994 and 1995. Church of Santa Maria Assunta - Domo The ancient church of Santa Maria Assunta was mainly in Romanesque style and developed along a single nave. According to the documents, it dates back to the 12th century, but has been considerably renovated over the centuries. The small window on the right wall overlooking the piazza is from the original church. In 1783 the church was renovated - as we see it today - and reopened in 1795. The church of Santa Maria Assunta has several high-quality frescoes inside. In addition to the high altar, two other altars are also painted: the one on the left wall is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary and the one on the opposite wall to Saint Anthony the Abbot. The current shapes of the two chapels that house the altars date back to the second half of the 18th century. The church also houses a precious organ, which comes from the collegiate church in Castiglione Olona. It dates back to the beginning of the 17th century and was later restored.
