Arch of the First Rosary 🏛Sacro Monte⛰

The Rosary Arch welcomes visitors to the Sacro Monte and represents the first stage of a devotional path linked to the prayer of the Rosary, which recounts 15 "mysteries", i.e. key events in the story of Mary and Jesus. The events represented at the Sacro Monte are divided into three groups of five mysteries: the joyful, the sorrowful and the glorious mysteries. This arch introduces the joyful events. The inscription on the top of the arch reads "Come to me, all you who love me", a phrase that is to be understood as an invitation from Mary, to whom the Sacro Monte is dedicated, to pass through the gate of paradise. In Christian symbolism, Mary is in fact considered the "gate of heaven".
