The monument is made up of three main parts that recall the three environments where the fighting of the Great War took place: water, land, air. At the base we find a large basin with a border of marble from S. Ambrogio. Four marble dolphins, artistically modeled by the sculptor Angelo Girelli, are positioned in the four corners of the base. Originally, from their nostrils, sprays of water gushed out, filling the basin.
