The consecration of the Peter-Paul Church took place in 1769 and the third church was built on the same site. It was built as a hall church after the great fire of 1768 by the royal church architect Johann Gottfried Rosenberg from Schleswig in classically simple late baroque forms. The "curved tower helmet", the so-called "Welsche Haube" became the landmark of Hohenwestedt. The sandstone portal was designed by the Eutin court sculptor Joh. The memorial commemorates the fallen soldiers of both world wars from the parish of Hohenwestedt. The circular structure consists of field stones on a raised hill with two staircases and 16 pillars. The plaques bear the names of the fallen soldiers from the 16 parishes of the parish.
