The municipality has been included in the association of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It also boasts the orange flag of the Italian Touring Club. As with Asolo, Castelfranco Veneto and Treviso, the historic center of Portobuffolé is also surrounded by walls.

Piazza Grande, already named after Vittorio Emanuele II, is one of the most famous squares in the Veneto due to its particular stage shape, and is the backdrop to numerous cultural initiatives. The current appearance of the square is the result of a major restoration completed in 1993 designed by architect Toni Follina. In the eastern part of the square there is a figure-eight curve: commonly called "the sundial", it is actually a large analemma, which acts as a calendar thanks to the shadow of the central pinnacle of the Cathedral. Piazza Grande is overlooked by the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, the Torresin, the Loggia Comunale, the Torresòn and other historic buildings, including the Palazzo Saccomani and the historic Caffè Commercio.

Those bridges and that environment closely resemble one of the most isolated corners of the province of Treviso, located at the confluence of the Meduna and Livenza rivers, on the border with the Pordenone area. The crossing of the waters, in a point where the banks are particularly high and steep and immersed in dense vegetation, is crossed by two narrow and ancient bridges, called Ponti di Tremeacque. The two structures, in the shape of a steel cage, represent a curious example of civil engineering "relic" from the beginning of the century: built in 1922 and restored in the 1980s, they create a particular contrast with the surrounding rural environment. The vegetation that accompanies the tortuous course of the two rivers is worth a walk among the cultivated fields and poplar groves, just as the banks can be explored with a mountain bike or on horseback.
