The current cathedral is but the latest in a series of cathedrals that have been built over time in Concordia Sagittaria. The construction of the oldest nucleus of the current cathedral, composed of a single nave, began in the 10th century during the episcopate of Bishop Alberic and ended with his successor Benzone. Only in 1466 did the building structurally take on its current appearance as a church with three naves, thanks to an expansion commissioned by Bishop Antonio Feletto.
