The Esterle hydroelectric power plant, located on the right bank of the Adda River, began operating in 1914. It is dedicated to the memory of Carlo Esterle, Edison's managing director until 1918. To be precise, the hydroelectric plant is called TACCANI (Treccani is the encyclopaedia) from the name of the designer. Alessandro Taccani (1876-1947) was a young graduate in industrial engineering from the Istituto Tecnico Superiore in Milan, when Cristoforo Benigno Crespi involved him to build his hydroelectric plant along the Adda. A great officer and knight of labour, the engineer Taccani was president of the consortium for the alienation of electrical materials left over from the war (1920-1924) and was commissioner for Italy at the Basel exhibition (1926). Taccani disappeared on 8 July 1947 at the Gavazzeni clinic in Bergamo.

Personally, the Naviglio Martesana does not drive me crazy, but it is always a pleasant ride, especially in company. I prefer to follow it in the Cassano -> Milan direction when returning from a bike ride to the east.
