Vetan, a hamlet of the municipality of Saint Pierre, is located on the northern side of the Aosta Valley in the upper part, at 1,700 meters above sea level. The small town has very ancient origins, growing in a valley of pastures at the foot of Punta Leissé. Its extraordinarily panoramic position offers a glimpse of the valleys of Cogne, Valsavarenche, Val di Rhemes, Valgrisenche, as well as numerous peaks and reliefs, of which Becca di Nona, Mont Emilius, Pointe de la Pierre, Grivola, Ciarforon can be recognised. and Becca di Monciair (these last two in the distance), and the Rutor glacier.

Here you have the opportunity to fill up your drinking water at a spring. The location consists of a shelter and nearby inhabited huts with stables for livestock. Very nice distant view of the snow-covered mountains opposite.

This wonderful plateau is located in the Gran Paradiso National Park and is home to an old Royal Hunting House. Around this property you can easily spot marmots, ibex, chamois and other wild animals. Most of the trails in this area are small, well-maintained single tracks. They are free of particular technical difficulty and easy to cover while running.

The bivouac: The bivouac is placed on Mount Fallere in Summer 2022. It stands where the Regina Margherita bivouac was once located, built in 1884 by the CAI Valle d'Aosta to make the top of the Fallère more accessible. The Alpini also traced a mule track which, starting from the last pastures, connected the bivouac to the summit. A small building (2.50×4.50 m) in wood and stone that could accommodate no more than five people inside. However, the bivouac, after only 26 years of opening, was abandoned to its fate, falling into complete ruin. But its position remains an excellent point of reference for the new refuge.
