Monastery and Basilica of Santa Rita da Cascia. This imposing religious complex dedicated to the Saint is certainly worth a visit. It is located along the Via di San Benedetto.

10月 27, 2023, Basilica di Santa Rita da Cascia
This church, dedicated to Saint Rita, is remarkable in many ways. The basilica was only built in the early 1900s (1937-1947) to create a larger church to house the much-visited relics of the former nun, Saint Rita of Cascia, who was canonized in 1931. The facade of the basilica is clad in white travertine from Tivoli. The floor plan is centralized in the form of a Greek cross. Rita of Cascia, born Margherita Ferri Lotti - Mancini (* 1381 in Rome; † May 22, 1457 there) was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun who was venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. With its simplicity, it has penetrated the hearts of millions of believers around the world: all those who are looking for a way to face everyday life, often filled with difficulties, with hope.

Really lovely village! It amazed me. There are various canals and pools of crystal clear water (former trout farms, including medieval ones) and the town is truly a wedding favor

At the northern entrance to the town of Leonessa, a medieval jewel set in a vast plateau of the Apennines, there is one of the entrances to the city walls, very scenic, while to the east is the Porta Aquilana.

Scheggino is an Umbrian town located in Valnerina, along the banks of the Nera river. The village retains its ancient appearance with stone houses and the artificial canal that crosses it. Beyond the Porta di Valcasana there are gardens and an equipped area ideal for a break and drinking fresh water from the spring that flows directly from the ground near the restaurant.

4月 30, 2022, Cappella di San Francesco
One of the few saints who is also highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in the German-speaking world as Francis of Assisi. Francis was born in Assisi in 1181/82 and died in 1226. In his youth as the son of wealthy parents he was a bon vivant, but later he turned to Christ. In the half-ruined little church of San Damiano, on the hillside outside the city walls of Assisi, he was praying one day and heard the voice of Christ coming down from the cross, urging him to “rebuild his church”. At first he took this request literally and restored the church building, later he came to realize that this is primarily about the church as the community of believers. Francis became a role model for many people, they joined him and the "Order of the Friars Minor" (Ordo Fratrum Minorum) of Francis of Assisi came into being. Today in the broad Franciscan religious family there are three male branches: the Franciscans, the Minorites and the Capuchins; and two females: the Franciscans and the Poor Clares. In addition, there is the "Third" or "Secular" order, which women and men who do not take the classic vows of the order (poverty, chastity and obedience) and continue to live in their family and their profession can join.
