The hike was done in October, a quiet, sunny day. It's best to dress in layers because you'll sweat a bit at the start of the climb, so short sleeves are fine. I later used a Patagonia sweatshirt because it was chilly up there, and a shell jacket if you go in colder weather! I highly recommend it, the view is worth it.

It is the lowermost fraction of the municipality of Bagno di Romagna (971 m above sea level). The church of Santa Maria del Carmine is relatively recent (built in 1784) and until 1960 there was also a multi-class school in the rectory. The hermitage of Camaldoli was founded around 1025 AD by the hermit friar Romualdo, today San Romualdo. At the beginning the structure had five cells for hermits and a church for common prayer. The sanctuary of La Verna is the place where Saint Francis received the stigmata. A place much loved by the saint who took refuge here in prayer whenever he could. Even today there is a mystical atmosphere. If you are a pilgrim you can stay overnight in the sanctuary's guesthouse (half board with dinner included). It's worth it to enjoy the silence of the place after the daily pilgrims have left and the sanctuary doors have closed. Wonderful panoramic point on Romagna. On fine days you can clearly see the Cesenatico skyscraper and a beautiful stretch of sea of the Riviera. Surely both the Ridracoli Dam and San Marino will be clearly visible, as well as the wonderful view of the woods and the ridges of the Sasso Fratino
