The refuge, not managed, is located at an altitude of 1234 m. above sea level inside the Casentinesi Forest National Park, along the road that from the Camaldoli Hermitage, passing through Prato alla Penna, leads to Badia a Prataglia.

The Fangacci refuge, built in the 1950s and owned by the Carabinieri of the Biodiversity department of Pratovecchio, has been managed exclusively by Fitness Tuscany since 2020.
Located in the heart of the Casentinesi Forest National Park, it is located between the Camaldoli Hermitage and the town of Badia Prataglia, at the Fangacci pass.
The refuge has the possibility of hosting up to 6/8 people.
It is equipped with a kitchen, stove and wood-burning fireplace and spring water (uncontrolled).
