Santa Sofia is located in the heart of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. There is a visitor center where you can find information for exploring the park, several excursions also depart from here. The Vero Stoppioni Contemporary Art Gallery is worth a visit, where you can see many works by the artist Mattia Moreni, and also the river park full of outdoor sculptures.

Corniolo is a hamlet of Santa Sofia, in the heart of the wild Bidente valley, close to the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. The town is really small and there are not many inhabitants, however there are some accommodation facilities to sleep in but above all trattorias and inns to taste the local specialities. Not to be missed.

The Calla pass is the highest road pass within the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. It connects the Arno valley with that of the Bidente, and also marks the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. The classic climb is the one that comes from Stia, about 15 kilometers with a difference in altitude of 850 metres. It is never too steep but the length makes itself felt, especially if you pedal with your bicycle loaded with luggage.
