Tower built in the early Middle Ages, its slope is due to the subsidence of the land caused by the erosion of the Rio stream that passes right underneath. Very charming place, there are benches and places to light a fire. The view of Lake Trasimeno is worth the price of the ticket.

Montegualandro Castle is a historic fortress located near Lake Trasimeno, in Umbria, on the border with Tuscany. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the castle has a strategic position offering spectacular panoramic views of the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside. Privately owned, today it is possible to visit it only on certain occasions, such as FAI days.

This fortified place, and site of the discovery of an Etruscan stele still preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Umbria in Perugia, occupies an excellent strategic position and marks a further border of the Perugia area. The fort stands at about 450 meters above sea level and its privileged lookout post (in fact, it is located at the extreme border of the Perugia area dominating the road that connected Perugia to Arezzo and Florence and over the entire Arezzo plain) it hides, in its presence, the historical events that characterized it with continuous clashes between Perugia and the Tuscan cities for control of it. One of the few saints who is also highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in the German-speaking world as Francis of Assisi. Francis was born in Assisi in 1181/82 and died in 1226. In his youth as the son of wealthy parents he was a bon vivant, but later he turned to Christ. In the half-ruined little church of San Damiano, on the hillside outside the city walls of Assisi, he was praying one day and heard the voice of Christ coming down from the cross, urging him to “rebuild his church”. At first he took this request literally and restored the church building, later he came to realize that this is primarily about the church as the community of believers. Francis became a role model for many people, they joined him and the "Order of the Friars Minor" (Ordo Fratrum Minorum) of Francis of Assisi came into being. Today in the broad Franciscan religious family there are three male branches: the Franciscans, the Minorites and the Capuchins; and two females: the Franciscans and the Poor Clares. In addition, there is the "Third" or "Secular" order, which women and men who do not take the classic vows of the order (poverty, chastity and obedience) and continue to live in their family and their profession can join.

Near the Torre di Vernazzano, there is a kind of chapel with an image of St. Francis of Assisi. You can light a candle, leave a donation or write something in the notebook that is in a niche.
