The Cathedral of San Leopardo in Osimo, built in the 8th century on an ancient pagan temple, is dedicated to the first bishop of the city. Although the exterior visible from the square is the left side, the entire facade is revealed only by entering the courtyard. Under the main altar, the crypt houses the remains of San Leopardo and the first Christian martyrs. Inside, a wooden crucifix from the 11th-12th century is preserved, known for its particular crucifixion with four nails and an unusual skirt. The crucifix is linked to a miracle in 1796, when it is said to have opened its eyes and moved its lips.

In the immediate vicinity of Appignano, many of the fields around the small town are full of sunflowers, so during the summer the flowers bloom and this whole picture is enriched with large splashes of yellow.

Positioned in the valley of the Monocchia stream, exactly halfway between the sea and the mountains, Appignano has a well-preserved medieval centre, still embraced by the ancient city walls, surmounted by a cusped bell tower dating back to the fifteenth century. An agricultural and industrial centre, the town is renowned for its ceramic craftsmanship, a tradition that has endured for more than 500 years, and is famous for the production and sale of furniture. Its origins are ancient, dating back to the era of Roman domination. From this point, you can enjoy a splendid view of the village, nestled among the rolling hills.

At Capocavallo there was initially a small church where, towards the end of the 19th century, a miracle took place. In fact, it seems that a painting depicting the Madonna began to sweat tears and moved her eyes, after these events the church was considerably enlarged and embellished.

The monument commemorates the local battle of 1860 that led to the unification of Italy.

FONTE MAGNA is the most important and well-known spring in Osimo and perhaps one of the oldest because it was there even before the Romans. It was a semi-cylindrical concrete cistern with a diameter of twelve meters and five or six meters high. It was once covered. Drinking water flows here perpetually. For years this source has supplied the people of Osimans with water and historical events that took place in its vicinity are told. In medieval times it was even polluted so as not to allow enemies to use it. Many secret tunnels that were under the houses of Osimane reached the source and the inhabitants of the city came out from a hidden door close to it, and identifiable even today, to supply themselves with water without being seen and thus face the enemy sieges.
