A beautiful tour through the Val Cannobina to the Passo Pantani. There are several "rest sections" ranging from flat to downhill. It gets a bit steeper towards the end of the pass. A must-do is the continuation via Malesco through the Cento Valli with its many sights, Re and the Ponte Romano, and breathtaking views of the valley and the railway line. Via Ponte Brollo and Ascona, the route then leads back to the lakeside road to Cannobio. I've ridden this route many times in spring and fall, and there was always little traffic. I can't recommend the traffic-free route from Malesco to Domodossola.

On the road between Cannobio and Malesco, a high bridge over the Cannobino stream is very fascinating and serves as a panoramic point on the ravine below. The Cannobino is a river that flows entirely in the province of Verbania-Cusio-Ossola, flowing into Lake Maggiore after a course of 25 kilometers.

The Orrido di Sant'Anna is a deep gorge carved out by the Cannobino torrent, not far from Cannobio. With its sheer rock walls and crystal-clear waters, it is an ideal destination on hot summer days, when many visitors stop to swim or explore the scenic paths that run alongside it. Nearby is a small church dedicated to Sant'Anna, dating back to the 17th century.

On foot or by bike along the Cannobino to the Chiesetta di Sant Anna and back through the village. Enjoy a glass of white wine at the bar Centro Traffiume on the Piazza del Municipio. We were the only tourists, but we weren't strangers. The route back to the lake is downhill. Belissimo.
