The Weissmies is the highest peak of the Weissmies/Lagginhorn/Fletschhorn trio. It is listed on the new maps at only 4017 m; previously, the elevation was given as 4023 m. The six meters of elevation loss is due to the melting of the summit cap, which is made entirely of ice. In return, the secondary peak to the southeast of the highest point (formerly P. 3965) has been upgraded by seven meters to 3972 m.

When visibility is good, the summit of the Weissmies at 4,013 meters offers a magnificent view of the two other peaks of the Weissmies Group (Fletschhorn and Lagginhorn), as well as the Mischabel Group (with the Dom as its highest point) on the other side of the valley. However, during our ascent, we could see... nothing (fog).

Starting point for the normal route to the Weissmies

Splendid panorama on many of the peaks of the Imperial Crown and on the nearby Weissmies. Certainly one of the easiest 4000 of the Alpine arc, the complete ascent of the west ridge takes place on easy terrain, never exposed and allows to avoid the glacier.

@Patrick, there seems to be a difference of standards. In the Pyrenees, while climbing Pica d'Estats, support first moved my highlight (a mini-glacier) to the wrong location on a marked trail and then later deleted it because it wasn't on the Komoot "trail" (=open streetmap). And on the Piccola/Petite Blanchen, northeast of Aosta, my highlight is hidden from others on the map – and is only visible in the highlights on my profile (where hardly anyone looks, I suppose), even though I classified it as "mountain hiking."
