The Monto Rosso rises directly from the city of Verbania. The summit does not reach an impressive height, but it is ideal for a short, brisk mountain run. The 400 meters of elevation can be conquered either on the winding road or, far more fun, on steep trails. From the summit you have a beautiful view over the Golfo Borromeo and towards Omegna.

Unfortunately, you can no longer see all around because the trees have grown too high. But there is a fantastic view towards Varese. The descent in a northeasterly direction (towards Larese) is not recommended because there are so many trees and branches (storm?) blocking the path, and the alternative paths are rocky, steep and sometimes slippery. Poles recommended.

The Scopello pass is located at 970 meters above sea level and connects Cannobio, on Lake Maggiore, with Santa Maria Maggiore and the Vigezzo valley. The top of the pass is dedicated to the cyclist Marco Pantani.
