In the summer, Monasterolo is a popular tourist destination, offering visitors sports activities such as fishing, hiking, rowing on the lake, and trekking. There are numerous recreational opportunities, including beaches, a sports and tourism center, and renowned restaurants dotted along the lake shore.

The name Monasterolo del Castello derives from a monastery destroyed at the end of the 8th century during the war between the Franks and the Lombards. Confirmation comes from a series of excavations that took place in the 90s of the 20th century that also brought to light foundations of colossal size, and a tuff arch supported by two large stones as if they were pillars with an elephant's foot base, characteristic of Benedictine art.
