The old railway freight shed has been lovingly restored and converted into a fire department museum. It has existed since 1963 and has been located in this building since 2002. An extension was added in 2013. The fire department museum is well worth a visit! It features several special exhibits, including the largest collection of fire department helmets in Germany.

Really cool

Owned by the Wachter family since 1803, it is considered the oldest inn in the region. The impressive foundations date back to the 11th century, while the picturesque half-timbered structure was built in 1610. The charm of bygone centuries can be felt in every corner – a perfect stopover that combines tradition and hospitality.

Founded in 1963 from an initial exhibition, the museum is now housed in a listed goods shed dating back to 1875, which has housed the impressive collection since 2002. In a harmonious ambience of historic wooden construction and modern architecture, numerous exhibits invite visitors to discover the development of firefighting technology. Since 2013, a modern extension has complemented the exhibition, offering even more space to bring the history of the fire service to life.
