"New momentum for Schaprode" – this was the slogan the CDU used in the recent election for the new mayor and municipal council in Schaprode – and it won. Anyone walking past here can take a seat and enjoy the swings under the mighty oak tree with a view of the Bodden. A truly wonderful idea!

A solid, covered rest area along the trail, complete with trash cans. It's nice to be able to leave your trash there.

Original fish-shaped privacy walls at the edge of the Vaschvitz holiday home complex. They don't fulfill their intended purpose, but that's fine with us; they're a nice eye-catcher.

You're welcome to enter and touch the spacious grounds, home to truly adorable goats of all sizes. A wonderful experience, and not just for children.

The manor house has a centuries-old, eventful history and is privately owned. It was built in its current form around 1660 on the site of a much older building. All proposed uses, such as an outpost of the Pomeranian State Museum for temporary exhibitions, could not be realized.

The Protestant Church of St. John in Schaprode is one of the oldest churches on the island of Rügen. The brick building can be visited ("Tritt ein" - open churches) and is surrounded by a churchyard with green lawns. Events are regularly held here, mostly concerts, but sometimes a film screening. Pastor Holz opens the church for me again when I arrive, and he was already about to leave for the day. Very nice!

Beautiful little harbor

As unidyllic as it sounds - I could easily do without the old concrete foundations - the spot at the edge of the forest is beautifully chosen, it is secluded and the view of the water is picturesque.
