The former gravel pit is located directly next to the Schwackenreuter Baggerseen-Rübelisbach nature reserve, which has existed since 2006. The abandoned plant can be easily viewed from the path.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to go around the lakes, as the paths at the upper end of the lakes were completely furrowed by forestry machines and I, at least, could no longer see (even with navigation) where the path continued. So I turned back,

A great opportunity for all trail riders to take a break with their horse, it is also possible to stay overnight as it is a trail riding station🐴🏕️ everything is beautifully set up

Many lakes one after the other, some in the nature reserve. Beautifully laid out swimming lake. Very nice area to take a break and relax.

The lake district near Schwackenreute/Sauldorf is worth a visit at almost any time of year. There are several observation towers overlooking the extensive lake landscape and the surrounding nature is always wonderful. In summer there are also some people swimming here. Cycle paths in this area are very well signposted.

The Ablach and the lake district around the old gravel works are still original and in some parts very skilfully renaturalized.
