Impressive black church in Randazzo

It is the largest church in Randazzo, dating back to the 13th century. Unfortunately it was ruined by the Anglo-American bombings during the Second World War.

Gradient is pretty even, the road is pretty large and recently paved. Not much shade this high up. From the top, you can keep climbing towards Floresta and Randazzo (maybe all the way to the Etna?) or take a right turn and descend towards Tortorici, the valley and (eventually) the coast

Floresta is a small town in the Nebrodi Mountains. The name is believed to derive from "forest": the Romans cut down tall trees in the woods near this settlement to use in building ships.

Floresta is located in the Nebrodi Mountains, at 1275 m a.s.l. and is the highest municipality in Sicily. It is a municipality in the Nebrodi Park, equidistant from Messina and Catania (about 90 km). The climate is of the Apennine type, with cool summers and cold, snowy winters.
