Saalfeld train station is very bicycle-friendly, with ramps and elevators to all platforms. There is a bakery with a café, a newsstand, a ticket machine, and several vending machines selling drinks and snacks. From Saalfeld train station, there are direct connections to: *Nuremberg by RE or IC train *Blankenstein by RB train via Bad Lobenstein *Erfurt by RB train via Arnstadt *Halle by RB train *Jena by RE and RB train *Leipzig and Gera by RE and RB train all have bicycle parking spaces. A bicycle ticket is only required for the route to Nuremberg; otherwise, bicycle transport is free.
