A beautiful, shady section of the trail, paved and asphalted. The path leads through a campsite and is very quiet outside of the summer months. As usual, the asphalt is slightly raised in places due to tree roots.

Along the Via Sacra that leads to the Basilica, continuing north, you'll find the archaeological area of the ancient Roman river port of Aquileia. Unfortunately, cycling is prohibited (but pushing a bike is permitted), but I highly recommend this short detour to visit one of the most impressive and well-preserved archaeological areas of Roman Aquileia.
