During the climb, on a paved road, you'll come across this sign indicating the Rio Secco Cave, where some prehistoric finds are being studied. It's possible to reach the temporary shelter and the scaffolding likely used for descending into the cave, but it's not possible to reach it without a guide. The Pradis area was inhabited by Neanderthals until nearly 50,000 years ago; numerous traces have been discovered in the area. The last Neanderthals who frequented the Rio Secco Cave are now the oldest inhabitants of Friuli; later, Homo sapiens arrived.
