The ascent to Mutegg is a great hike. The ascent on the west side of the summit is a little more challenging than the east side. If you want to do a circular hike, I recommend the ascent via the west and the descent via the east. The hike requires average fitness, a head for heights, but otherwise no special alpine experience - it is therefore also suitable for less experienced summiteers (in good weather).

Great starting point for a nice day tour

Arriving here after the 6-stage tour is a dream. We were very happy to cool our feet after the exertion of the last few days.

All around a wonderful view. The Zoggler reservoir and above the Ultner Hochwart, the Einertal, the Auerbergtal with the Ilmspitz and the Seefeld Alm, the Bichlberg (2579 m), the Stübele, the Klapfbergtal, the Kirchbergtal with the Welscher Berg to the Rabbi Joch.

The lake is an eye-catcher from all the numerous hiking trails in the area.

You can walk around the reservoir wonderfully. A very nice alternative is the path along the dam wall up to the Tisenhof and from there via the Finailhof. From there slowly down again towards the high ropes course. From there you can return to Vernagt either on the left or on the right bank of the lake.
