The patronage of this church—dedicated to Saint Thomas of Canterbury—takes us geographically away from the Italian peninsula, across the Alps, and further north to the British Isles. In terms of time, we return to the 12th century. Thomas Becket was Archbishop of Canterbury and, in the conflict between the Church and the Crown (King Henry II), a "martyr of canon law and ecclesiastical freedom," as Pope Alexander III put it on the occasion of his canonization (1173, just three years after Thomas's violent death). His feast day in the calendar of saints is December 29th.

Inaugurated in 1963 in the presence of Pietro Secchia. Inscription: "We rose up so that you could be free people." There were over 100 partisans in the town, 13 of whom paid for the fight for freedom with their lives.

One in memory of an attack by fascist gangs on February 27, 1921, when the local consumer cooperative building was set on fire. The other for the victims of the patriots and anti-fascists deported to Nazi camps.

On November 6, 1944, the base of the fascist National Guard GNR was attacked here. The Pantaro di Sotto, together with the nearby Pantaro di Sopra, makes up an incredible complex of villas that date back to the 16th century. The Pantaro di Sotto preserves part of a fortified villa perhaps founded by the Dukes of Parma.
