Historical relict

The Holzhausen Roman Fort is an impressive example of Roman military architecture on the Upper Germanic Limes—now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is idyllically situated in the forest near Holzhausen an der Haide in the Rhein-Lahn district and is one of the best-preserved Limes forts in Germany.

On a relatively long section from the fort towards Holzhausen, the Limes hiking trail follows the original course of the Limes at a short distance, the wall of which is still clearly visible

The main gate of the fort is called Porta Praetoria. It is the only double gate in the fort, and the pillar in the middle is clearly visible.

The second highest mountain in the western Hintertaunus is crowned by a summit cross. Greetings can be left in the summit book. There is also a TP stone right next to the cross.
