Fantastic landscape where the hills are furrowed by the spectacular silvery grey ridge that abruptly interrupts the gentle Romagna hilly profiles, a true geological monument of at least 6 million years.

Very beautiful and not particularly difficult trails. Don't miss a visit to the well-preserved church of Campiuno, from where you can admire the gypsum vein from Tossignano to the cave of King Tiberius.

It is said that on July 7, 1667, the lands of Riolo Terme were hit by a violent storm with a strong hailstorm that destroyed every form of vegetation existing in the local fields. The villagers resorted to prayers to get through the year with the very few harvests they managed to obtain, and turned to the Madonna del Presidio, asking to be preserved from other calamities of the kind in the future, the following year they made the procession and arrived in the most affected place they stopped and decided to build an oratory, which ten years later a brotherhood was created, called del Presidio. The group was made up of thirty people, the church was opened to the public on October 15, 1684, that day the ceramic, which was hanging from a pillar, with the depiction of the Blessed Virgin was brought inside the structure. Several renovation works were done such as in 1835 when it was completely rebuilt, in 1703 the bell was built which is still visible today, while the crypt was created in November 1923. The Rocca di Riolo was built in its first nucleus in 1388 by the Bolognese government: a square tower to defend the village, only four meters high on each side, with wooden floors connected by retractable stairs. The entrance was located between the first and second floors, so that the warriors could take shelter inside for protection. During the 15th century, under the government of the lords of Manfredi, the fortress was adapted to new military strategies: for this reason, the construction of a city wall and round towers that allowed a greater defense in case of attacks using bombardments. In 1474, Riolo was the capital of the Senio Valley. Carlo II Manfredi had the keep re-clad on all sides, built masonry stairs and dug a well on the ground floor of the keep. In 1478, Riolo became part of the government of Riario Sforza. The family made minor adjustments: holes in the moat, a turret and an emergency hatch. In 1504 Riolo fell into the hands of the Papal States through Giovanni Sassatelli.
