The Dragon's Fountain is a sulfurous spring. Legend has it that this was the lair of the dragon killed by Saint Crescentius.

The Aries fortress, near Montone, has very ancient origins, it was built by the Fortebracci family on the remains of an ancient fortress to defend the primitive population. There is news of it since the year one thousand, but it is from 1376 that the fortress begins to intertwine its history with the Fortebracci family. In that year Oddo III, father of the famous Braccio, conquered it, bringing it back under the hegemony of the nearby Città di Castello.

The Pieve de’ Saddi is the center of the first Christianization of the High Tiber Valley and the religious center of the entire mountain region for centuries. During the persecution under Diocletian, a Roman soldier - Crescentino - was beheaded and buried here. The Pieve de' Saddi church was built in the 5th century on the site of a former Roman temple to house the martyr's remains. Inside the church, divided into three naves, there is an 8th-century relief depicting the saint killing a dragon that had terrorized the inhabitants of Città di Castello.

Pieve dei Saddi is a magical place that deserves a stop. It is a very ancient place of Christian worship. Today it is a stopping point, home to a hostel run by people of exquisite hospitality. About 6 Km. From Montone stands the ancient fortress of Rocca d'Aries in an excellent panoramic and strategic position. The etymology is not defined: for some it was founded by Darius, a Persian name; for others from the Latin dares = You will give companion of Aeneas; for still others Aries = ram = Montone. Tradition has it that the Fortebracci family started from this fortress to build Montone and their castle. La Tocca is located on a hill and offers an excellent panoramic view of the area. Easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, it is a regular stop for anyone passing by.

There are many paths that lead to the Rocca and there are many itineraries for both hiking, MTB and Gravel bikes. By combining various CAI paths and secondary roads it is possible to create various ring routes that start from Montone and lead to the Rocca. In addition there is a cycle path along the left side of the Tiber River, with a gravel bottom ideal for gravel bikes and MTBs, which connects the municipalities of San Giustino, Città di Castello and Umbertide and leads to Montone: it can be used very well. in the creation of tours that can start from further away, from the Tiber Valley. The cycle path that leads to Montone, along the Tiber, is very steep with sections over 18%, we cyclists in the area use "the road of the Woods" which from Coldipozzo leads to Montone: road SP 201 section 4 much less demanding with slopes which do not exceed 8% and in less than 4 km takes us to the town of Montone.
