little church

This church is located on Via di Francesco and its origins date back to the 11th century. It is located north of Valfabbrica on the right bank of the Chiascio river. The climb from Barcaccia to Biscina is about 250 meters from the castle of Coccorano. The current church, which has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries, retains the apse to the east with the dedicated bell tower above. Below the church there is a small place to rest and a fantastic view of the valley.

Directly on the St. Francis Way, the pilgrim will find this simple cross, on which pilgrims place stones they have brought with them, but also photos, pieces of paper with requests, rosaries and other devotional items.

Such abandoned farmsteads (lost places) can be found everywhere along the St. Francis Way.

The views on the Franziskusweg are simply fantastic. A natural road with views of the reservoir continues to Valfabricca.

This cross, made from two simple beams, does not have a body, but it has to carry a comparatively heavy load. Many hikers and pilgrims have tried to build a cairn on the two arms of the crossbeam and even on the top of the longitudinal beam.
