Founded in the first half of the thirteenth century, Poggio Mirteto is located in the Tiber valley, it rises 250 meters above sea level. on a hill at the foot of Mount S. Cosimo a few kilometers from the Tiber. Among the religious architectures there are the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Church of San Paolo. In the old part, after the Farnense gate, stands the Clock Tower. The latter dates back to the sixteenth century, but contains the bells, originally belonging to the Church of San Paolo, on which the date of the year 1290 is engraved.
