The Hermitage of San Venanzio is located within the Regional Nature Reserve of the San Venanzio Gorges. From the building you can see the Aterno River flowing in the portion below between high rock walls.

The place is wonderful but once you get to the top, the snow makes it impassable.

Raiano is a charming village famous for the production of cherries. The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore is a mandatory stop for those who are in the municipality.

We hiked to the Castillo di Canselmo and decided to make it a loop. We continued on this park road (double track). It was in trees most of the way and along the Autobahn for a long way. The shade would be good on a hot day and the grade is more gentle than the more direct route.

Popoli is one of the most important spa centers in Abruzzo and on the border of the Majella National Park: one could say that it is one of the gateways to the protected area. A few kilometers from the city center is the Pescara Springs Nature Reserve.
