The Morronis are ancient remains of Roman civilization. In fact, where San Benedetto dei Marsi stands today, there was a city called Marruvium, which was the capital of the Marsi people and then became a thriving Roman municipality. Since no inscriptions have been found, it is thought that the Morronis are tombs or monuments in honor of important figures in society.
