The Medieval Aqueduct is one of the symbols of the city of Sulmona. It runs alongside the central Piazza Garibaldi and was built in 1256 during the reign of Manfred of Swabia.

A surprising relief along the dreary eastern bypass (Circonvallazione Orientale) of the old town. At the same time, in good weather, fascinating views to the north of the Gran Sasso mountains open up.

To the north there are excellent views of the Gran Sasso.

San Panfilo is the cathedral or dome of Sulmona. It dates back to the 8th or 10th century. It was declared a national monument in 1902.

Hiking along the road is quite grueling, but it offers excellent views of the mountains in five surrounding major mountain protected areas: the two regional nature parks of Sirente Velino to the northwest and Monti Simbruini to the southwest, and the three national parks of Gran Sasso to the north/northwest, Majella to the east/northeast, and Abruzzo to the south. Particularly impressive are the nearby mountain ranges of the Majella National Park to the northwest, including the 2,061-meter-high Monte Morrone, which also gave its name to the nearby monastery in Badia. The best views north toward Gran Sasso are when crossing the highway.

To the southeast there are excellent views of the mountain ranges in the Majella National Park.

Corso Ovidio is the main street in Sulmona's old town. This section is particularly architecturally interesting. The famous Annunziata complex, considered "the most precious jewel of the city's architectural wealth," consists of the Palazzo dell'Annunziata and the 15th-century Chiesa della Santa Annunziata, located directly to the left. Nearby stands the monument to the poet Ovid, who was born in the city and who also gave the street its name.
