The bike tour to the pilgrimage church of St. Valentine leads through picturesque landscapes and offers insight into the religious history of the region. Tour description: The route starts in Haselbach, a district of Braunau am Inn, and covers a distance of approximately 20 kilometers to the pilgrimage church of St. Valentine. Along the way, cyclists can enjoy the idyllic surroundings and soak up the rural atmosphere.

Saint Valentine, Mertesheim In Mertesheim near Grünstad, there was a Romanesque church from an early stage, which Count Ludwig Eberhard von Leiningen had rebuilt and extended to the east in 1504. The "jewel box" is around 500 years old and has a high altar from the High Renaissance that is unique in the region. Also worth seeing from an art historical perspective are a baptismal font (1507) carved from a block of sandstone and the pulpit (1704). The church also contains relics of Saint Valentine. When the Capuchins took over pastoral care in the Leiningen region in 1674, they dedicated the church to Saint Valentine, who was highly revered in the Baroque period. Through papal indulgences, they founded a small pilgrimage that has continued to this day. The feast of the holy bishop and martyr Valentine, February 14, is considered a pilgrimage day. His veneration came to the region from Rome and Terni in Italy. The special customs on the day of the pilgrimage include the veneration of the relic of Saint Valentine and the blessing of the Valentine's bread. The church was extensively renovated between 2002 and 2004, and a new organ replaced the old instrument in 1992. Protestant services are also held in the St. Valentine's Church.
