The Lame del Sesia park extends over an area of approximately 900 hectares along a stretch of almost 8 kilometers of the Sesia river, located between the provinces of Novara and Vercelli. It can be reached by following dirt tracks along the Sesia River and it deserves a stop to admire the engineering work of the intersection with the Cavour canal, built to support rice agriculture that originates from the Po in Chivasso and ends in the Ticino at Galliate.

The waters of the Cavour Canal flow for about 256 meters under the Sesia river, on the border between Greggio and San Nazzaro Sesia. The siphon represents the most important hydraulic artifact present on the canal itself: it was built in November 1864 and finished the following month.
