The market square offers a panoramic view of the town hall, the town church and the facades of the houses that were built after the town fires of 1693 (in the north) and 1784 (in the south). The fountain with the lion, the town's heraldic animal, was built in 1947. The fountain is decorated with a biblical quote: "Do not let the sun go down on your anger" (Eph 4:26)

As always, 1693 was the zero hour: burned down. Destroyed. But the reconstruction was even worse: miserably slow... It wasn't until 30 years later that the half-timbered building was built! And there was still no thought of an inauguration. From today's perspective, the town hall offers enormous entertainment value, because the facade facing the market square: plenty of lies and deception. The cellar: a false giant. At the back: two cells of the local prison. A brilliant market hall is hidden in the citizens' office. The donor windows tell more about the post-war period in Vaihingen than the centuries-old themes would suggest. And the mayor's office could easily pass as a hall.
