The short tour around the main massif is best started clockwise if approaching from the south, i.e., from Neinstedt. This way, the return route on the loop, if intended, takes you behind and far below the Devil's Wall, where only a bumpy path leads, and usually everything is badly littered with sheep. It's almost impossible to avoid the widespread droppings! Starting in Neinstedt is the norm, as the walk from Thale would be quite a distance. A tour from station to station is certainly conceivable, but then the Bode Valley and other attractions would be left behind – a real oversight! Those arriving by car can use the large parking lot near the Bode River on the outskirts of Neinstedt. To do so, simply turn off the L92 towards Weddersleben! The parking lot with signposts is just beyond the bridge. First, follow the Teufelsmauerstieg (Teufelsmauer path), then immediately up the stairs. --- The highlight at the very top is, above all, the Königsstein (King's Stone)! --- Shortly before, you have a magnificent view of the countryside and Weddersleben, namely at a gap in the elongated, narrow massif, which consists entirely of quartzite. For those coming from Neinstedt station, unfortunately, there is no direct access and you must continue a bit towards Quedlinburg. You then follow a miserably narrow path not far from the railway line to the nearest crossing point, where the tracks and road cross. Over there is the highly interesting and tempting Marienhof, where you can enjoy a delicious cake and a simple lunch in the self-service restaurant. Beyond it, after two bends, you immediately cross the Bode River. A quick left, and the climb to the Devil's Wall begins!

From here, you have a beautiful view of Weddersleben and the opposite Mittelsteine of the Teufelsteig trail. A well-maintained staircase leads up or down. On the slope, you can observe sheep and goats grazing.
