Oberkotzau Castle. Information: First mentioned in 1234. Destroyed several times, including during the Hussite Wars. By the 18th century, the complex was largely in ruins and was rebuilt in the Baroque style. Remnants of a tower and the chapel are still visible. The castle complex in its present form was built after the town fire of 1852. It now houses, among other things, the Oberkotzau Castle Residence, run by the Diakonie Hochfranken (a social welfare organization).

The Krauß miller family, first documented at this location in 1735, built and operated a grain mill whose mill wheel was powered by the water of the Ölsnitz (Untreubach) stream via an approximately 600-meter-long, artificially created mill channel. The "lease of the Ölsnitz stream" by Baron von Kotzau to master miller Johann Krauß in Eppenreuth was re-documented in 1835 with reference to the fishing rights.
