Lake Trammer is located north of Plön and belongs to the municipalities of Plön and Rathjensdorf. The lake is partly privately owned and partly owned by the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

In spring and early summer, sea eagles can be observed at their nests from a platform set up by the Sea Eagle Protection Project Group in Schleswig-Holstein (access from Rathjensdorf).

It covers 163 hectares and has a maximum depth of 33.4 meters. The lake contains four uninhabited islands of varying sizes, the three largest being Groter Warder, Ziegen Warder, and Bornholts Warder. The islands of Groter Warder and Ziegen Warder are connected by a narrow strip of land. The lake's shoreline is 7.9 kilometers long, making it ideal for a walk around the lake. The lake's swimming area is located in the heart of Plön. Tip: From the Parnaßturm (Parnaß Tower) in Plön, you have a fantastic view of Lake Trammer and its islands.
